Plainville Farmington was originally inhabited by the Tunxis Indian tribe. In , a community of English immigrants was established by residents of Hartford, making Farmington the oldest inland settlement west of the Connecticut River and the twelfth oldest communities in the state. Settlers found the area ideal because of its rich soil, location along the floodplain of the Farmington River , and valley geography. The town and river were given their present names in , which is considered the incorporation year of the town. The town’s boundaries were later enlarged several times, making it the largest in the Connecticut Colony. The town was named after Farmington, in England.

Located at the southeast corner of Dearborn and Van Buren streets, hard by the rattle and rumble of the “L,” this story high-rise is best known for the gracefully rounded window bays at its corners. The stacks of bays, which resemble cylinders, endow the tower with a strong vertical thrust.
When it was built back in , the Old Colony wasn’t just tall — it was about being tall. And now, it has re-emerged with a youthful kick. Originally an office building, its name an homage to the Pilgrims’ Plymouth Colony, the Old Colony has been turned into rental apartments marketed to students attending college in the South Loop. It also has a new name: The Arc at Old Colony, an homage to the innovative, arched “portal braces” that buttressed its internal metal skeleton against Chicago’s whipping winds.

Saturday, February 25, Reno and Becka: Reality TV’s Kate and Sawyer But Sweatier I don’t know, but I think this is Reno’s promo photo for ‘The Colony’, but it looks more like a headshot for the porn remake of said show. It’s degrees outside, you haven’t slept in days, you just boiled rotting pig carcass to make bio-deisel This is the main question posed by Discovery’s second season of the wildly popular social experiment program The Colony present , in which a group of strangers is dropped into the Gulf Coast and told to survive without running water, power, or supplies.
How is this different from Survivor you ask? There is no cash prize, there is no voting off contestants, or tribe councils. The task is simple: You don’t get airlifted into a Hilton if you decide to just say; fuck it, I need a shower. You’re stuck there for 50 days and signed all of the legal waivers. In your ‘colony’ they are going to include a really muscly, tan, wavy haired stud who’s presence will distract from the severe but slow starvation depleting your brain from all rational thought.
